The story

In order to receive a bone marrow transplant quicker and be able to continue her career as an actress, Xia Lin enters into a secret marriage with Ling Yi Zhou, the CEO of a company. Despite the conspiracies and misunderstandings they encounter, the two find true love.

What it’s like

Glossy, polished romantic melodrama, with the look of a modern Chinese web drama: bright office interiors, sleek corporate lobbies, and softly lit apartments and hospital corridors that keep the emotional beats close and legible. The vibe is sweet and tense in turn, a contract-marriage romance where secrecy and misunderstanding keep the pulse up between tender, quiet scenes. Pacing leans episodic, with cliffhanger reveals and recurring rivalries that return the romance to center each time it drifts. The emotional register is earnest and heightened, shaped by a wealthy, guarded man and a determined woman whose defenses soften slowly, alongside a third character who complicates their pull toward each other. Illness and corporate scheming give the stakes weight, but the intensity stays mild: no graphic violence, and the danger is mostly emotional rather than physical. It suits a weekend binge, a comfort rewatch with a drink, or a late evening when you want romance with a little bite. It is for viewers who enjoy slow-burn yearning, rich-and-guarded love stories, and the familiar comfort of a melodrama that trusts its characters to find their way back to each other.
