The story
Set off by a sweet chance encounter, 16-year-old Su Zaizai finds herself helplessly drawn to Zhang Lurang — her smart, charming yet distant schoolmate.
What it’s like
Bright, warm daylight through school windows, sunlit courtyards, and the easy clutter of campus life set the tone, with a light, airy palette and camera work that stays close to the characters during classroom and hallway moments. The mood is sweet and buoyant with a current of gentle comedy, the kind of show that suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a comfort rewatch, or background viewing while doing something else. Pacing is unhurried and episodic, with small everyday exchanges building toward a slow, tender shift in how two teenagers see each other. Its emotional register is hopeful and a little bashful, and its central arc follows a restless, impulsive girl gradually learning to read a reserved classmate who keeps his feelings guarded. Intensity is very low: there is no violence, no gore, and no sexual content, and any tension stays with ordinary adolescent worries about friendship, pride, and being noticed. It is well suited to viewers who want a gentle, low-stakes romance with the textures of youth, and to anyone who enjoys first-love stories told with warmth rather than melodrama.
