The story
Zhou Siyue, a rebellious genius, and Ding Xian, a strong-willed and charming “Cinderella,” start off as unlikely seatmates. But through daily interactions, they slowly come to understand and support each other, forming a bond that stands the test of time.
What it’s like
Bright daytime school interiors, with sunlight through classroom windows, worn desks, and the ordinary clutter of campus life, give this a soft, unhurried look. The mood is warm and nostalgic, tender without being saccharine: a gentle, bittersweet coming-of-age feel. Two students who begin as reluctant desk partners slowly learn to read and trust each other, and the story moves at a patient, episodic pace, with small daily exchanges carrying more weight than big set pieces. Emotional beats are restrained and sincere, mostly built from glances, shared silences, and quiet loyalty, and the romance grows out of friendship rather than sudden drama. Intensity is low: there is little or no violence, no gore, and no graphic content, and the stress comes from academic pressure, family expectations, and social awkwardness rather than fear or cruelty. It suits a rainy weekend, a comfort rewatch, or an evening when you want something sweet and unhurried. It is for viewers who enjoy slow-burn school romance, friends-to-lovers arcs, and the particular ache of first love remembered.
