The story

While playing up in the mountains, Claire Elford finds herself taking shelter from the rain in a mansion. Soon, she finds four other people, some bizarre monsters - and no way back out. In the company of demons, the five must figure out how to escape... and solve the mystery of the legendary wish-granting treasure, the Witch's Heart.

What it’s like

Dim, candlelit interiors and rain-streaked mansion windows set the tone of this indie RPG, drawn in a dark, hand-painted pixel style where cold blues and murky greens sit against warm amber lamplight. Its soundtrack leans on sparse, eerie melodies and long stretches of rain and creaking floorboards, so silence often feels heavier than music. Exploration moves at a deliberate, unhurried pace, with turn-based encounters that punctuate wandering through corridors, cellars and overgrown grounds. The mood is melancholic and uneasy, with the witch-tinged tragedy building gradually as five strangers realise they cannot leave. Horror here comes from atmosphere and unsettling creatures more than gore, though fights and some grim reveals carry real dread and sad, violent undertones. It suits a late, rainy evening alone with headphones, and players who enjoy slow-burn mystery, Japanese-style RPG mechanics and gloomy, storybook gothic settings.
