The story

Once branded a heretic. Now you have been chosen. Reclaim our sacred weapons. Take back our ancestral lands. If you can stand... Amid Evil.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated polygons and chunky low-resolution textures give this first-person shooter the look of a 1990s PC game, with fog-soft horizons, jewel-toned crystal and stained-glass light, and dark dungeon corridors lit by flickering torches. The sound is brassy and percussive: rhythmic synth-and-orchestral pulses, crunching melee hits, and the clatter of weapons being swapped mid-fight. Movement is quick and springy, built around sprinting, double-jumping and tight platforming between arena fights, so the rhythm feels like a loop of running, leaping and swinging. Its vibe is nostalgic, lively and punchy, with a fast arcade energy that suits a weekend evening, a stretch of focused play with headphones on, or an itch for something retro and rewarding. The violence is constant and stylised, with monsters bursting into gouts of bright colour and blood-free dismemberment rather than realistic gore, and jump-scare tension is minimal. Players who want a tactile, old-school shooter with fantasy weapons, mages and warriors, and who enjoy speedrunning or replaying levels for mastery, will find it especially satisfying.
