The story

ARC Raiders is a multiplayer extraction adventure, set in a lethal future earth, ravaged by a mysterious mechanized threat known as ARC. Enlist as a Raider and scavenge the surface to thrive in a desolate world. But beware of the machines. Beware of Raiders preying on others. ARC Raiders blends the tension from extraction shooters with atmospheric settings from the adventure genre. Lurking threats—from deadly machines to other Raiders—create a constant ebb and flow of intensity, where every moment is charged with the thrill of high stakes. Extract valuable loot and explore the unfolding mysteries of a vibrant, lethal world. ARC Raiders supports seamless social play across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Play with your squad and thrive as a team, or rise in the ranks as a lone ranger.

What it’s like

Sun-bleached ruins under hazy, dust-heavy skies, with rust, overgrown concrete and the cool glow of machinery against warm desert light. The sound design carries much of the mood: wind across empty streets, the clatter and hum of mechanical threats moving somewhere out of sight, and proximity voice chat that makes other players feel close enough to trust or dread. Matches move in a steady, tense ebb and flow, with long stretches of scavenging and quiet listening broken by sudden, sharp bursts of combat, then a long walk toward the extraction point. The vibe is tense, watchful, and lonely, with moments of camaraderie when a squad holds together. Violence is frequent and sharp, with gunfire, mechanical attacks and the risk of losing everything to other players, though the presentation stays more stylised than gory. It suits focused evenings, playing with friends who like shared tension, and players who enjoy slow planning punctuated by high-stakes encounters. Its intensity sits well below horror but well above anything gentle, so it is best for those who want adrenaline and risk rather than calm.
