The story

Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble: venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

What it’s like

Sun-bleached and gritty, with handheld-style camera moves, saturated desert light at noon, and the grimy neon of a quarantined Las Vegas after dark. Snyder leans into wide, sweeping crane shots over crumbling casinos, slow-motion set pieces scored to loud rock and pounding electronic cues, and bursts of frantic, chaotic motion when the undead swarm. Its vibe is brash, sweaty swagger with a current of dread underneath, the kind of watch that suits a loud Friday night with friends or a late-night session when you want spectacle over subtlety. The pacing is uneven, surging between long buildup and sudden stampedes, and the emotional register stays mostly playful and cynical, with a grizzled ex-soldier slowly finding a reason to care about the people he's leading. Violence is frequent and graphic: zombies are torn apart, gunfire is constant, and there is gore throughout, plus some sexual content and profanity. It's not gentle or quiet. It is for viewers who enjoy genre mashups, big ensemble heist energy, and zombie action with a sense of humour.
