The story
A lazy, incompetent middle school teacher who hates her job and her students is forced to return to her job to make enough money for a boob job after her rich fiancé dumps her.
What it’s like
Bright, flat suburban daylight and fluorescent school corridors, with a glossy, saturated studio-comedy finish: pastel cardigans, cluttered classroom walls, and the bleached cheer of a Los Angeles-area middle school that never quite feels lived in. The camera stays mostly conventional and eye-level, letting the performances carry the scenes, with broad physical gags and quick two-shots in break rooms and parking lots. The sound is pure mid-2010s comedy: pop cues, bouncy needle drops, and loud, overlapping banter. Its vibe is cheerfully cynical and irreverent, the kind of easy mean-spirited fun you put on with friends or as a late-night laugh when you don't want to think. The pacing is brisk, with a steady stream of jokes and little breathing room. Its protagonist is deliberately unlikeable, and the arc bends toward a grudging, scrappy softening rather than a real change of heart. Language is crude and sexual humour is frequent, with some suggestive situations, but violence is absent and the mood stays light. It suits viewers who enjoy sharp-tongued, selfish anti-heroes and raunchy workplace satire more than sentiment.
