The story

Grunty returns—and that's bad news for Banjo and Kazooie! In this all-new adventure, combine everything you learned in the award-winning prequel, Banjo-Kazooie, with dozens of brand-new moves and abilities. Explore eight original worlds-like a monstrous factory and a dilapidated amusement park. Solve incredible puzzles that link those worlds together—sometimes you'll have to complete tasks in several worlds to solve a single puzzle!

What it’s like

Bright, saturated cartoon worlds rendered in chunky Nintendo 64-era 3D, with wide, sunlit vistas, murky sewer-green swamps, and a rusted amusement park glowing under garish colored lights. The camera trails the action from behind, so the sense of wandering through big, gleaming playgrounds stays constant. The soundtrack is bouncy and orchestral, full of trumpets and playful woodwinds that loop cheerfully while you collect glowing notes and puzzle pieces. Its vibe is whimsical and busy, a Saturday-morning cartoon you can lose an afternoon in. Pacing is leisurely and exploratory, with frequent backtracking through familiar hubs as new abilities open old areas. Peril is cartoonish: enemies bonk and wobble rather than bleed, and the witchy villains are more goofy than frightening. Violence is mild and slapstick, with no gore and no sexual content. Emotionally it stays light and affectionate, with a rivalry-turned-teamwork banter between its odd-couple heroes that gives the comedy a warm, low-stakes core. It suits anyone who wants a gentle, colorful adventure for a lazy weekend, and players who enjoy hunting for every hidden collectible in a playful, forgiving world.
