The story

Batman: Arkham Collection includes the definitive versions of Rocksteady's Arkham Trilogy games, including all post-launch content, in one complete collection. Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City have been remastered with updated visuals. The collection is completed by Batman: Arkham Knight.

What it’s like

Gotham after dark in the Arkham games is a sculpted, rain-slicked world of cold blue moonlight, sodium-orange streetlamps and the amber glow of gargoyle-lined rooftops, with the Batsuit's cape and cowl catching sharp rim light against inky shadow. Combat unfolds as a rhythmic dance of counters and glides, the controller buzzing with each takedown, while the scores lean on brooding strings, low synth pulses and long stretches of unnerving silence broken by a gravelly voice on the comms. The overall feel is moody and kinetic, a dark-noir power fantasy that swings between tense stealth creeping through vents and gargoyle perches and sweeping open-city glides over neon-streaked skyline. Intensity runs high: frequent fistfights with brutal, bone-crunching impacts, grim thugs and villain-led menace, some frightening set pieces and psychological unease, but no sexual content and gore kept fairly restrained. Best suited to a late-night, lights-low session or a long weekend playthrough, for players who want a brooding, hero-driven story with satisfying combat and a moody, cinematic atmosphere.
