The story

A recently widowed man and his two teenage daughters travel to a game reserve in South Africa. However, their journey of healing soon turns into a fight for survival when a bloodthirsty lion starts to stalk them.

What it’s like

Sun-bleached savanna under hard African daylight gives way to dusty ochre plains, tawny grass and a sky so wide it swallows the frame, with wide static and sweeping aerial shots that make the landscape feel vast and indifferent. The camera stays close to the family in handheld, breathless movement once the threat arrives, and the lion is often glimpsed through tall grass or at the edge of the frame, so dread builds from what isn't shown. The score is percussive and low, with long stretches of wind and insect hum, and the silences before each attack are tense. Vibe: taut, sun-scorched unease. It suits a daytime watch with the lights on, or an adrenaline-hungry night when you want to be jolted rather than lulled. Pacing is relentless after the first act, and the emotional arc follows a grieving father and his daughters rediscovering trust and each other under extreme pressure. Intensity is high: frequent peril, brutal animal attacks with blood and bodily injury, and a few gory moments that land hard, but no sexual content. For viewers who want survival thrillers with real stakes and a grounded, human core.
