The story
Blood on the Clocktower is a game of murder and mystery, lies and logic, deduction and deception for five-to-twenty courageous players and one devious storyteller. A social game played in person or online, seated in a circle, each player receives either a ‘good’ or ‘evil’ token with their unique character on it. Good players share information to solve the mystery whilst evil players lie about who they are and what they know. The good team wins if they can piece together their knowledge, trust each other, and execute the demon. The evil team wins if the demon can sow distrust, evade detection, and wipe out the village.
What it’s like
Tense, talk-driven and slightly theatrical, with the murky feel of a village under suspicion. Its look lives in the props: character tokens, a storyteller's grimoire, and a circle of faces lit by lamplight or a screen, with night phases that go quiet and day phases that erupt in accusation. The sound is mostly voices, overlapping claims, the scrape of a nomination being made and the hush before a vote. Violence is off the page: a death is announced and the village reacts, with no gore, no graphic detail and nothing sexual. The fear is social rather than physical, the dread of being caught in a lie or of trusting the wrong neighbour. Pacing builds in rounds, with long stretches of talk, sudden reversals and a slow tightening of suspicion toward a final vote. Vibe: cool, wary, gently menacing, a hushed parlour game that turns sharp. It suits a long evening with friends, a voice-chat session with strangers, or anyone who enjoys reading people across a table. It is for players who like bluffing, logic puzzles and the thrill of being wrongly believed or rightly doubted.
