The story
As revolution sweeps France, Richter Belmont fights to uphold his family's legacy and prevent the rise of a ruthless, power-hungry vampire ruler.
What it’s like
Hand-drawn 2D animation with inked, angular character lines and flat, saturated washes: deep indigo nights, bruised violet skies, the sickly green of candlelit cellars, and bursts of arterial red during fights. Backgrounds lean on cathedral stonework, torchlit streets and drifting fog, with dramatic low-angle compositions and frequent slow pans across crowds and ruined architecture. The soundscape mixes orchestral strings and choral swells with restrained electronic pulses, and the quieter scenes lean on near silence, footsteps and wind. Vibe: brooding, gothic and politically charged, with a rising sense of dread. It suits a late-night watch alone or a weekend binge where you want atmosphere to carry the story. Violence is frequent and bloody, with stabbings, decapitations and gore shown on screen; there are some tense, frightening sequences, and some sexual content and cruelty among the characters. Adult in tone and not comforting. It is for viewers who enjoy dark fantasy, historical unrest and vampire lore told with moral complexity, rather than anyone seeking something gentle.
