The story

At Cross Academy, two student disciplinary committee members are tasked with keeping the peace between a human class and a night class of vampires.

What it’s like

Saturated night-blue skies over a gothic academy, moody moonlit courtyards, and bright flashes of crimson when the vampires feed, all drawn in the clean, glossy cel style of a 2008 shoujo anime with soft-focus dream sequences and dramatic close-ups on lowered eyelashes. Sound leans on sweeping orchestral swells, piano stings and a sudden hush before a confrontation, with voice performances that carry much of the emotion. The vibe is romantic gothic melodrama with a restless, slightly feverish edge, the kind of show that suits a late evening alone, a binge across a weekend, or a comfort rewatch when you want atmosphere more than tension. Pacing is episodic and leisurely in its everyday school scenes, then tips into sharper bursts of action and secrets. The emotional core is a loyal, protective friendship tangled with unrequited longing and a slow reckoning with what the vampires are. Violence is moderate and stylized: fights with blood spatter kept mostly off-screen or softened, bloodletting shown as intimate rather than gory, and some frightening moments of hunger and danger. It is aimed at fans of shoujo romance and gothic fantasy who enjoy a brooding, theatrical love triangle with a supernatural twist.
