The story
An ordinary high school boy fails to get into any private academy except one — which happens to be populated by supernatural creatures disguised as humans. To survive, he has to pretend that he is one of them and blend in.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated cel-animation colours with bold outlines and bouncy, exaggerated character movement, the kind of 2008 anime look that leans on quick cuts, reaction freeze-frames and deliberately broken fourth-wall asides to the camera. Backgrounds are cheerful school-campus greens and daytime blues, with dusk and moonlit scenes turning cooler and more atmospheric when the vampire lore surfaces. The soundtrack is brisk and jokey, full of bright pop-rock openings and bursts of comic sound effects, with voice performances pitched high and expressive. Vibe: loud, goofy, cheerfully fan-servicey, a light and chaotic watch for a weekday evening or a lazy weekend when you want something silly rather than soothing. The pacing is quick and episodic, with running gags and escalating misunderstandings doing more work than any single storyline; the emotional register stays playful, with a hero who is earnest and mildly panicked and a supporting cast whose quirks and secret identities make for steady comic friction. Expect frequent suggestive humour, fan-service costuming and tease-heavy scenes, with some cartoon monster action and slapstick fights, but no real gore and nothing truly frightening. Best for viewers who enjoy harem-comedy and supernatural school settings and don't mind ecchi jokes.
