The story
The modern-day vampire comedy centers on high school girl Amano, who was saved from a strange incident by a vampire girl named Sophie Twilight, and has been interested in her ever since. Akari arrives at her house uninvited and the two start to live together. Although a vampire, Sophie never attacks humans, but purchases blood and anime goods via mail and lives a modern life.
What it’s like
Bright, soft-edged animation with clean lines and sunny pastel palettes gives this series the feel of a lazy suburban afternoon, with cheerful daylight in ordinary rooms, cluttered bedrooms full of merchandise, and small everyday details like mail deliveries and kitchen counters. The sound leans on light, bouncy comedy scoring and gentle incidental music, with the rhythm of ordinary school-day chatter. Episodes are short and bite-sized, moving briskly from one small gag to the next, and the tone stays warm, playful, and low-stakes: sweet, slightly awkward, and quietly tender. A vampire who politely avoids biting people lives a domestic life with a high school girl who is smitten with her, and their relationship grows through everyday comedy about routines, habits, and fandom. Violence is nearly absent, with no gore and only faint, mild fright beats played for laughs; romance is teasing and affectionate rather than explicit. It suits a rainy Sunday, a comfort rewatch, or something to put on while cooking, and it is for viewers who want something gentle, funny, and quietly charming.
