The story

Season 2001/2002 in the Championship Manager series. Players can choose to play as three of 26 leagues and access detailed profiles and histories for over 100,000 players, managers, and coaches. The full international simulation features all the major tournaments, as well as an improved Data Editor, allowing you to change and modify the stats. You can keep your teams squads up to date or even add yourself into the game. Championship Manager Season 01/02 also features enhanced Media involvement, more messages, and feedback.

What it’s like

Cool blue menu screens, dense grids of player stats and fixture lists, and a flat, utilitarian palette that feels like a club office late at night after the floodlights have gone off. There is no real camera or cinematography here; the look is text, tables, and small icons, with the occasional match rendered as a simple abstract view or a scrolling commentary feed. The sound is sparse: a few brief stadium murmurs, notification pings, and quiet clicks as you move through screens. Pacing is slow and deliberate, built around long stretches of planning, transfer scanning, and waiting for weeks of fixtures to tick past, with bursts of tension when a result arrives or a press message lands. The vibe is studious, absorbed, and quietly obsessive, suited to a rainy weekend with a mug of tea, a long-haul flight, or a background session while doing something else. Intensity is nil: no violence, gore, or fear, only the low-stakes anxiety of a losing run and the small thrill of a surprise promotion. It suits football fans, spreadsheet lovers, and anyone who enjoys slowly building something over many seasons.
