The story

The closest thing to real football management. FM22 brings new, progressive ways to find your winning edge, instill your footballing style and earn it on the pitch.

What it’s like

Clean, functional menus dominate the screen: tables of player attributes, league tables, scouting grids and match-day tactical boards, all set in a crisp, data-dense interface with muted greys, pale blues and the green of a pitch rendered in flat, realistic tones. Match sequences are shown as a 2D tactical view with small figures sliding across a top-down grid, while the real drama lives in the numbers, colour-coded ratings and the flicker of a results ticker. Sound is restrained: a low crowd murmur, a whistle, the occasional chime when a transfer lands, and long stretches of near silence while you pore over a spreadsheet of wingers. The vibe is calm, studious and absorbing, a late-night, headphones-on sitting that suits a quiet evening, a long train journey or a slow Sunday with a cup of tea. Pacing is entirely player-controlled, with seasons unfolding in fast-forward bursts between long considered pauses. Its people are managers and players whose arcs move through patient scouting, gradual squad building and the slow turn of a struggling club toward success. There is no violence, gore or sexual content, and tension comes only from tables, injuries and the sting of relegation. It suits people who enjoy planning, spreadsheets, football and the quiet satisfaction of building something over many seasons.
