The story

Chicken Police is an "Animal Noir Adventure Game", set in the fictional world of the Wilderness, featuring a gripping, dark story, mature themes and a unique sense of humor. The game has classic point & click elements, mixed with visual novel style dialogue-heavy storytelling.

What it’s like

Hard-edged noir rendered in flat, cut-paper-style illustration: rain-slick city streets, smoky interiors lit by desk lamps and neon signs, and a palette of deep blues, sooty blacks and sickly yellows that gives every scene a stylised 1940s-detective shine. Character portraits are drawn with bold outlines and expressive faces, and the animal cast (chickens, rabbits, and other creatures in suits and trench coats) makes the genre feel both familiar and faintly absurd. The soundscape leans on jazzy, brooding score, murmured dialogue and the clatter of an office or precinct, with long stretches of talk broken by the click of point-and-click exploration. Pacing is deliberate and dialogue-heavy, more like reading a graphic novel than racing through action, with a clever, deadpan humour threaded through the grim setting. Its tone is noir melancholy softened by wry comedy, and the arc follows a jaded detective gradually confronting corruption and personal loss. Violence is present and occasionally graphic, with murder and crime as central subject matter, mature language and themes, but it is not gory in its staging. Best suited to adult players who enjoy mystery puzzles, atmospheric storytelling, and a dark joke or two over a late evening.
