The story

Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer confesses to his gruesome crimes in unguarded interviews, offering an unsettling view into a disturbed mind.

What it’s like

Cold, flat, and clinical in its look: long static shots of interview rooms with fluorescent overheads, muted beige walls, and archival footage of 1990s Milwaukee streets under grey skies. The camera mostly sits still and lets the talk fill the frame, with the occasional slow push onto a face or a recorded tape hiss over black. Music is sparse and low, more dread than melody, so silences do much of the work. Its vibe is bleak, hushed unease, the kind that settles in slowly and stays. It suits a late night alone when you want to watch something serious and don't mind feeling unsettled afterward. Intensity is high in tone rather than in spectacle: the crimes are described in unflinching detail and there is some archival crime-scene material, but there is little on-screen gore, and the dread comes from the conversation itself. Not for anyone seeking comfort or lightness. Made for viewers who want true-crime documentary that is patient, sober, and psychologically probing, and who are comfortable sitting with a disturbing mind for several hours.
