The story

A unique look inside the mind of an infamous serial killer with this cinematic self-portrait crafted from statements made by Ted Bundy, including present-day interviews, archival footage and audio recordings from death row.

What it’s like

Dim, muted interview rooms and grainy archival footage cut against stark, sun-bleached 1970s Americana: wide shots of highways, motel parking lots, courthouse steps and cold institutional corridors. The look is largely documentary and unhurried, built from talking heads, lingering close-ups of faces, and newsreel textures, with the audio of Bundy's death-row recordings often playing over empty landscapes. The score is sparse and tense, with low synth drones and held notes that tighten the dread rather than resolve it. The vibe is clinical unease, a slow creeping chill, and this is best watched in one focused sitting on a quiet night rather than as background. Pacing is measured but relentless, and the emotional register stays cold and watchful, following a manipulative man's self-presentation and the people trying to read through it. Intensity is high: murder, sexual violence and the aftermath of attacks are discussed explicitly, with crime-scene photographs and real footage of victims' families, and the impact lands heavily rather than through staged gore. This is not gentle viewing. It suits viewers drawn to true crime and psychological study who can tolerate disturbing material and want a serious, unsentimental account of a predator's manipulation.
