The story

Danganronpa Decadence contains the three main titles in the legendary Danganronpa franchise, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition, and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony Anniversary Edition, and also features the brand-new title Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp, a boardgame-style bonus game with all-new scenes and interactions between your favorite characters!

What it’s like

Bright, glossy anime art on flat pastel backdrops, with cartoonishly cute students in school uniforms set against a candy-coloured academy that turns sinister the moment a mechanical teddy bear appears. Manga-style panels and speech bubbles that jolt and jitter across the screen during debates give it a restless, hyperactive energy, backed by a pulsing electronic score. Murder reveals splash in stylised red, while investigations unfold in drab, shadowed corridors. The vibe is manic cute-meets-cruel, a sugary surface over real dread. It suits a late-evening session or a long commute on the Switch, where the portable screen works well for reading through lengthy dialogue. Pacing alternates between quirky chatter and sharp, tense trials where one contradiction can flip the scene. The emotional register swings from goofy comedy to grim tragedy as a cast of teenagers is pushed to betray and confront one another. Violence is frequent and bloody, with gruesome deaths rendered as illustrated gore, plus some crude jokes and fanservice; nothing is shown in photographic detail. It suits mystery fans who enjoy puzzle-solving, dark humour and bold stylised horror, and not anyone wanting something gentle.
