The story

When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto the Super-Dog must convince a rag-tag shelter pack - Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel - to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated, cartoonishly clean animation: Metropolis gleams in candy-coloured daylight, with glossy primary reds and blues, bouncy squash-and-stretch motion, and a fast, kinetic camera that whips through action set-pieces and settles into brighter, softer shots in the shelter's dingy-but-warm rooms. The soundtrack is bustling and pop-driven, with big orchestral swells on the heroics and goofy percussion for the animal gags. The vibe is playful, scrappy and upbeat, with a light, cheeky energy that suits a Saturday-morning afternoon, a family movie night, or a kid-friendly rewatch on a rainy day. Pacing is brisk and gag-heavy, the emotional register is warm and sincere, and the central arc is a group of underdog rescue animals slowly learning to trust their own strengths and each other. Violence is cartoon-level: punches, explosions and villain menace, all bloodless and comic, with some peril but nothing frightening for young viewers. Made for families and young kids who want an energetic, silly superhero romp with heart, and for adults who don't mind a bit of broad humour.
