The story
Over the course of one evening, an unsuspecting group of twenty-somethings find themselves bombarded by a series of natural disasters and catastrophic events.
What it’s like
Bright, flat, overlit studio comedy: harsh fluorescent and daylight-white interiors, glossy digital sheen, and a restless handheld-then-zoom camera that cuts fast between gags, with slapstick set-ups landing on a single visual punchline. The rooms are apartments and a crowded party space, all bland beige and chrome, so the disasters arrive as bursts of saturated orange fire, green-tinged floods and cheap CGI wreckage. Sound is a loud, cartoonish mix of crashes, sirens, pop-music stingers and gleeful sound effects, with almost no quiet. The vibe is brash, giddy and deliberately tasteless: a background-noise spoof for a lazy evening or a sleepover when you want to laugh at nothing in particular. Pacing is relentless and sketch-like, with a new parody beat every minute and few emotional beats at all; the young ensemble stays broadly drawn and mostly stays out of the way of the gags. Intensity is high on crude humour, sexual innuendo, bodily gags and mild peril played for laughs, with some cartoonish violence and frequent explosions and destruction, but no real gore or sustained dread. It is for people who enjoy crude, anarchic parody films and don't need characters to matter.
