The story

Damien and Leito return to District 13 on a mission to bring peace to the troubled sector that is controlled by five different gang bosses, before the city’s secret services take drastic measures to solve the problem.

What it’s like

Hard-edged urban action shot in grimy daylight and sodium-orange night, with handheld camera that stays close to the bodies as they vault rooftops, scale concrete towers and tumble through tight estate corridors. The palette runs to dull greys, concrete beige and blood-red accents, and the sets feel cramped, graffitied and rain-slick, with a constant sense of surveillance and pressure from above. The sound is driven by a thudding electronic and hip-hop-inflected score, punctuated by impact sounds, shouted street French and sirens, with little quiet. Vibe: kinetic, gritty, adrenaline-fuelled. It suits a late-night action binge or a weekend when you want a fast, stylised rush rather than anything reflective. Pacing is relentless, with chases and brawls stacked one after another, and the emotional register is blunt and loyalty-driven, centred on two close friends who refuse to be corrupted by the system around them. Intensity is high: frequent stylised fist fights and gunfire, with some brutal beatings and a few stabbings and shootings; little gore beyond bruising and blood, and no sexual content. Best for fans of parkour, martial-arts cinema and gritty crime stories who want momentum over subtlety.
