The story

A grieving woman in a secluded forest encounters a killer who injects her with a paralytic drug. As her body shuts down, her fight for survival begins.

What it’s like

Dim, murky woodland under overcast skies, with the cold grey-green of an isolated forest pressing close around a single small cabin clearing. The mood is bleak and clammy, leaning on the sense of being trapped in one spot, and the premise of a body going slack suggests a stillness that makes every small sound loud: wind through branches, distant footsteps on dead leaves, the tick of a watch. Think of a horror-thriller that plays its dread through restraint, with tense, held images and a score that stays sparse and unsettling rather than swelling. The pace is taut and relentless once the paralysis sets in, and the emotional register is grim, with a grief-stricken heroine fighting to keep her wits and her life while her body refuses to obey. The violence is present and tied to the central threat, with menace and dread carrying more weight than gore; expect some graphic moments and an unforgiving, disheartening ending. Best suited to a late-night watch alone, for viewers who enjoy suspense built on helplessness and who can handle a bleak, uneasy tone without much relief.
