The story

After the defeat of Majin Buu, a powerful God of Destruction known as Beerus searches for the Saiyan warrior who defeated Frieza. Realizing the threat Beerus poses to Earth, the Z-fighters must stop him. Only Goku, humanity’s last hope, can ascend to the level of a legendary Super Saiyan God and save the planet, and possibly the entire universe!

What it’s like

Bright, saturated cel animation with flat primary colours, glowing ki auras and sharp, kinetic line work, the screen often filled with energy blasts and cracked earth. The palette runs hot: gold, electric blue and crimson flare against open skies, and the fight staging favours wide establishing shots that snap into rapid close-ups and speed-line blur. The score is a bombastic orchestral-rock mix with pounding percussion and heroic brass, and the Super Saiyan transformations arrive with surges of sound. Vibe: loud, high-energy and celebratory, with a crackling sense of cosmic scale. It suits a Saturday afternoon of pure spectacle, a fan rewatch, or a night when you want to feel the adrenaline without thinking much. Pacing is relentless, with long bouts of escalating exchanges punctuated by jokey beats and goofy side characters, and the emotional register stays earnest and triumphant, with friendship and rivalry carrying the arcs. Intensity is high but cartoonish: frequent punches, explosions and planetary destruction, with stylised peril rather than gore and no sexual content. It is for viewers who want spectacle, shounen bravado and a sense of universe-sized stakes.
