The story

Desperate to find employment, Karam picks up a job as ‘Pooja’ at a call center for sex chats, keeping most people in his life in the dark about the nature of his work. How long can he keep it up before everyone including his girlfriend and father find out?

What it’s like

Bright, busy frames of crowded Indian streets, cramped rooms and sun-washed apartments give this a lively, slightly cartoonish sheen, with bold colour and quick, mobile camerawork that keeps the energy up. Bollywood-style songs punctuate the story, and the score is upbeat and melodic, with plenty of comic timing in the dialogue and reactions. The vibe is breezy, warm and mischievous, a feel-good comedy for a relaxed evening or a light weekend watch. Its pacing is brisk and its tone playful, with farce building as the central deception grows more tangled, and its emotional arc follows a flustered young man learning to own his choices while the people around him slowly become more honest. Sexual content is limited to innuendo, suggestive phone-call humour and the absurdity of the premise; there is no nudity, no graphic sex and no violence, and the fear level is minimal. It suits viewers who want laughs, romance and a gentle, bouncy story without anything dark or heavy.
