The story
The sequel to the 16-bit platformer by GalaxyTrail. Lilac, Carol, and Milla must stop the water dragon Merga from resurrecting the ancient super-weapon Bakunawa. It is the second entry in the Freedom Planet franchise.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated pixel art with fluid hand-animated sprites, the kind of 16-bit look that leans into sherbet skies, neon-lit ruins, and lush jungle greens, all moving at a fast, springy clip. The soundtrack is an energetic blend of chiptune-flavoured synth and guitar riffs that swells during boss fights and softens during quieter exploration. Levels are built for speed: loop-de-loop tracks, wall-running, and quick combo strikes through zones packed with color and motion, with a sense of playfulness woven through the cartoonish character reactions and banter. The vibe is buoyant and upbeat, with a cheerful, high-energy rhythm rather than anything brooding, and the stakes stay light even when the action gets chaotic. Violence is cartoonish: enemies burst into sparks and robots, with no gore and no sexual content, though the fights are frequent and fairly intense in pace. It suits a weekend afternoon, a bout of nostalgic play, or a focused couch session with a controller, and it will appeal most to fans of fast 2D action platformers who enjoy character-driven, colorful adventure with a retro edge.
