The story
Free-spirited Georgia and her two kids, Ginny and Austin, move north in search of a fresh start but find that the road to new beginnings can be bumpy.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated suburban daytime with warm sunlit kitchens, pastel bedrooms and glossy phone-screen inserts, shot in handheld, fast-cut coverage that leans into close two-shots during confrontations and wide establishing frames of a leafy New England town in summer and autumn. The score is pop-forward, with needle drops and upbeat synth or guitar underscoring the teen scenes, while the adult storylines drop into quieter, dimmer interiors and rain-streaked car rides. Vibe: sunny, chatty, soapy, with a sharp undertow of unease. Pacing is brisk and binge-friendly, with frequent cliffhanger episode endings and a voiceover-driven, confessional tone that talks directly to the viewer. Its emotional register swings between giddy teen romance and bruised, guarded adult relationships, following a charismatic, self-invented mother and her two teenagers as they rebuild trust and reckon with the secrets each one keeps. Intensity is moderate to high: frequent profanity, sexual content and teen drama, brief sudden violence, and heavy material around childhood sexual abuse, handled with serious weight rather than gore. Not gentle. For viewers who want a glossy, twisty, emotionally messy soap with a dark streak, and who can handle difficult subject matter.
