The story

This bundle contains the original version of Grand Theft Auto V, the standalone game Grand Theft Auto Online and the story mode add-on of Grand Theft Auto V.

What it’s like

Sun-bleached Los Santos rendered in saturated, high-contrast daylight, with golden-hour haze over the palm-lined hills and harsh neon washing the nightclub strips and dim motel corridors after dark. The palette swings from sunny postcard blues and dusty desert oranges to rain-slick asphalt and cold blue police strobes, and the camera hangs mostly behind the car or over the shoulder, so the city feels wide, busy and always moving. Radio stations spill across the drives in a patchwork of classic rock, hip-hop, electronic and talk, which is a large part of the atmosphere. The vibe is loose, cynical and restless, a satirical crime sandbox that rewards wandering aimlessly for hours, with a mood that shifts from giddy and slapstick to sudden and tense. Violence is frequent and cartoonishly exaggerated but also realistic in places, with bloody shootouts, car crashes, police pursuits, and crude, sometimes cruel humour; sexual content and sex work appear in the storylines and side activities, and some scenes are uncomfortable. The three protagonists are a washed-up thief, a volatile ex-soldier and a hustler, and their arcs follow reluctant partnerships, betrayals and bids for a better life. Best for players who want an open-ended, mischievous playground with chaotic energy, and not a good fit for anyone seeking something gentle or low-stakes.
