The story

Green Hell is a sweltering struggle for survival in the Amazonian rainforest. Clinging to life, the player is set on a journey of durability as the effects of solitude wear heavy not only on the body but also the mind. How long can you survive against the dangers of the unknown?

What it’s like

Dense, humid greens fill nearly every frame, with the light filtering down through the canopy in dappled, sweat-bright shafts and the murk of the forest floor turning brown and sepia as the day wanes. The first-person view sits close to the hands, so crafting a tool or tending a wound feels tactile, and the camera sways with breath and exhaustion when health drops. Sound is the forest itself: insects drone, birds call from unseen branches, rain drums on leaves, and the score, when it appears, is sparse and tense, leaving long stretches of ambient jungle hum. The pace is slow and methodical, built around gathering, cooking, and building shelter, with sudden bursts of danger breaking the calm. Its vibe is grimy, isolated, and quietly anxious, with a steady undertow of hunger and dread. Violence is present and can be brutal: hostile tribes, predatory animals, and gruesome injuries are shown, with some blood and gore, and the threat of death is constant. Psychological strain shows through hallucinations and fear rather than spectacle. It suits players who enjoy survival crafting and tense, solitary self-reliance, not those seeking something gentle.
