The story
Steve McGarrett returns home to Oahu, in order to find his father's killer. The governor offers him the chance to run his own task force (Five-0). Steve's team is joined by Chin Ho Kelly, Danny "Danno" Williams, and Kono Kalakaua.
What it’s like
Bright Pacific daylight, saturated turquoise water and sun-bleached concrete, with the warm amber glow of golden hour on Oahu's coastline giving way to nighttime city lights and glossy high-definition digital texture. The camera moves briskly: fast tracking shots down palm-lined roads, sweeping aerial views over the island, and handheld energy during chases and confrontations, with crisp editing and a bold orchestral-and-synth score that drives each case forward. Its vibe is sun-drenched, brisk and crowd-pleasing, a glossy procedural with banter and camaraderie at its heart. It suits a lazy weekend evening, an easy episode-after-episode binge, or background viewing while folding laundry. Pacing is brisk, with a case-of-the-week rhythm and a longer season-level thread. The tone is warm and playful, with the central arc following a driven, guarded man slowly building a family of colleagues he can trust. Intensity is moderate: regular gunfights, fistfights and car chases, with some peril and murder investigations, but little graphic gore and no sexual content on screen. It is for viewers who want sunny action, team loyalty and a light, escapist crime story.
