The story
A comedy of errors wherein four men help each other to fool their prospective father-in-laws creating a cascade of confusion and mayhem.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated studio colour and wide, busy frames that keep the whole cast in view, with fast cuts and a bouncing, brass-heavy score that never lets the energy drop. The sets are glossy and theatrical, full of pastel interiors, mismatched costumes and over-lit rooms where every door seems to open at the wrong moment. The mood is raucous and cheerful, a light slapstick farce that stays in good humour rather than turning cruel. Pacing is brisk and cumulative, with escalating misunderstandings that tumble into one another and a loose, affectionate romance running underneath. The violence is cartoonish pratfalls and mock fights, with no real gore or menace, though the comedy leans on crude jokes and some broad, sexualised innuendo. It suits a loud, silly night in with friends, or a playful watch when you want noise and laughter over subtlety. It is for people who love ensemble slapstick, big-hearted chaos and Bollywood-style comic excess.
