The story

Challenge yourself in this hard-boiled arcade shooter. Choose from 3 different bounty hunters in this classic arcade setup. Run, jump and take cover in a futuristic city environment. Haul bullets at your enemies with a great variety of guns. Keep your cool while planning your advancement as objects around you shatter into pieces from explosions and bullets that whistle over your head. Kill the minions, then go after their leaders. Collect your bounty. Make a healthy living — by making living unhealthy.

What it’s like

Hard-edged neon against near-black night: Huntdown's pixel art is dense and high-contrast, with magenta, teal and sodium-orange signage glowing over rain-slicked futuristic streets and smoke-hazed sets. Its sprites are chunky and expressive, and the screen constantly flickers with muzzle flashes, sparks and shattering debris. The soundtrack is a driving synthwave pulse with gritty, punchy gunfire and explosions layered over it, feeling like an 80s action film rendered in arcade blocks. Gameplay runs in tight, side-on sessions of running, jumping and taking cover, with each level building to a boss fight, and the violence is cartoonish but relentless: bullets, explosions and bloody splatter, with no real gore detail beyond pixelated mess. It has an energetic, wisecracking hard-boiled tone, a cyberpunk noir mood that is cocky rather than brooding. Best suited to a late-night session alone or a loud co-op evening with a friend, for players who want a tense, chaotic arcade shooter with lots of replayable challenge and a retro, synth-soaked atmosphere.
