The story
Simran loves love stories, with her ideal job and perfect boyfriend, she lives a blissful and dreamy life. However, things are rudely interrupted by Jay's cynicism on sentimentality.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated Bollywood romcom palette: sunny Mumbai interiors, pastel wardrobes, glossy studio lighting and a lot of mid-shot two-handers that let the leads' faces do the work. The mood is sweet and bouncy, with a playful, self-aware streak that teases its own gooey sentiment, and the score is full of cheerful, orchestral-pop romance cues that swell at the right moments. Its pacing is brisk and comic, with lighter sequences of banter and office mishaps giving way to warmer, more earnest stretches. The emotional register is sunny and teasing, and the arc follows a jaded young man who slowly loosens his guard around an unabashed romantic. Intensity is very low: a few heated arguments and one tense confrontation, but no violence, gore or real cruelty, and the sexual content is limited to kisses and flirtation. It suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a comfort rewatch, or an evening when you want something light and bright. It is for people who enjoy romantic comedies with music, colour and a wink at love-story clichés.
