The story

Their first week of high school. The biggest party of the year. Mistakes will be made as four teenage boys navigate a night of mayhem and debauchery.

What it’s like

Bright, chaotic party-night energy, the kind of comedy that runs on escalating set pieces and one long bad decision after another. Its vibe is loose, sweaty and giddy rather than cozy, with the restless momentum of a single night that keeps getting away from everyone in it. The pacing follows the hours as they fall apart, so the rhythm is brisk and busy, built for a Friday evening with friends or a late-night watch when you want to laugh at other people's teenage recklessness. Its four boys are fumbling and overconfident, and their arcs bend toward a scrappy kind of loyalty as the mistakes pile up. The comedy is crude and high-spirited, with the raunchy, drunken humor that comes with a party movie, and the intensity sits in the mess and embarrassment rather than in any real danger or dread. It is not a gentle film. It suits viewers who want a boisterous, irreverent high school comedy about friendship surviving a disastrous night, and who are comfortable with broad, adult-leaning teen humor.
