The story
Infinity Blade II is an action role-playing video game for the iOS mobile devices developed by Chair Entertainment and Epic Games released through the Apple App Store. The game is the sequel for the acclaimed Infinity Blade from the same developers. Infinity Blade II was announced on October 4, 2011 during the Apple iPhone 4S Presentation Keynote. A sequel and final installment in the series, Infinity Blade III, was released on September 18, 2013.
What it’s like
Dark stone halls, glowing rune-lit altars, and vast castle interiors rendered in heavy shadow and cold blue-gold torchlight give this mobile action game a moody, storybook-gothic look, with a polished, glossy sheen on armour and weapons. Each encounter is a one-on-one duel framed by a slow camera pull-in, so the world feels like a series of ceremonial stage pieces rather than open ground. The sound is mostly brooding orchestral swells and metallic clashes, with the crack of blades and the hiss of sparks carrying the fights. Its vibe is solemn, lonely and hushed between battles, with a tense rhythm of studying an opponent, timing a block, and striking. Combat is stylised, with sparks and bursts of dark ichor rather than graphic gore, but the duels are sharp and punishing, and a fallen hero's death is final. Level-ups and gear swaps add a steady, satisfying grind, best suited to focused evenings on a phone or a long commute. It suits players who want atmospheric, hands-on swordplay with a gentle grind and a sombre fantasy mood, rather than frantic spectacle.
