The story

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is a Lego-themed action-adventure game with platforming and puzzle-solving, played from a third-person perspective in a world built from Lego pieces. It combines and updates the content of two earlier games, Lego Star Wars: The Video Game and Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, covering the six films of the Skywalker Saga across dozens of story levels. Players take on many different characters, each with distinct abilities such as lightsabers and the Force for Jedi and Sith, or blasters and grappling hooks for others, and use those abilities to progress and reach hidden areas. It supports drop-in co-op play, a Cantina hub world for free roaming and character customization, a Free Play mode for replaying levels, and a large amount of collectibles to gather.

What it’s like

Bright, plastic-glossy primary colours and chunky brick-built worlds give this game a toy-box cheerfulness: sunlit Tatooine dunes, misty Hoth snowfields, and the warm clutter of the Cantina hub, all rendered with the stud-and-brick textures of a play set. The camera sits at a comfortable third-person distance and follows a crowd of tiny minifigure heroes who wobble, tumble and explode into studs when hit. Sound is a bouncy pastiche of John Williams cues, with cheerful comic sound effects and the clatter of collected pieces. Its vibe is playful, low-stakes and easygoing, well suited to a lazy weekend afternoon, a shared couch session with a friend or child, or background play while doing something else. Pacing is brisk and forgiving, with short levels, puzzles that nudge rather than stall, and an endless drip of collectibles and unlockable characters. Violence is cartoonish: blasters and lightsabers topple enemy bricks into harmless clouds of studs, with no blood or gore and no real threat of failure. The emotional register stays light, with comic slapstick and affectionate parody of the films rather than drama. It is made for families, younger players, fans of Star Wars who want a gentle romp, and anyone who enjoys collecting and co-operative play.
