The story

Lies of P is an action role-playing game set in a dark, Belle Époque-inspired city overrun by deadly puppets. Players control Pinocchio, reimagined as a mechanical warrior, navigating a decaying world while making choices that affect the unfolding narrative. The game features challenging melee combat, weapon customization, and a mechanical arm with various abilities.

What it’s like

Gilded decay under grey skies: Lies of P draws its look from a Belle Époque city where brass gaslamps flicker over wet cobblestone, cathedral spires vanish into soot-brown fog, and the glow of sickly amber light pools in cramped alleys and vast, ornate halls. Its palette runs on ochre, rust, and cold steel, broken by bursts of hot orange sparks when weapons clash against metal bodies. The camera stays close and deliberate, lingering on crafted machinery, tarnished clockwork, and rain-slick architecture, while the soundtrack leans on mournful strings and clanking gears, with long stretches of near silence that make every footstep echo. Combat is weighty and punishing, with a cautious, rhythmic pace built around dodging, timing, and the satisfying crunch of heavy blows. Its vibe is melancholic and tense, a dark, steampunk fairy tale best saved for a late night alone with headphones on. Violence is frequent and bloody but stylised, with grisly puppet deaths and body horror rather than gore for its own sake, and some scenes carry real unease. It suits players who want a demanding, atmospheric action RPG with a haunting setting and a protagonist slowly confronting what it means to be human.
