The story
Not wanting the same fate as befell her sisters, Sona Mishra re-locates to Mumbai to try to make a living making movies, but she soon finds that the path she has chosen is not an easy one.
What it’s like
Bright, sun-warmed Mumbai street scenes alternate with the glossy, over-lit sheen of film sets and studio rehearsal rooms, so the look swings between gritty daylight and theatrical polish. Camera work stays mostly conversational and close, with easy handheld movement in crowded apartments and offices, and the soundtrack leans on bouncy, melodic pop with bursts of sitcom-like comic timing. The vibe is wry, bittersweet and affectionate: a warm, sunny ache for ambition that keeps getting bent by compromise. It suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a light comfort rewatch, or an evening when you want something funny with a sting of recognition. Pacing is brisk and playful, and the emotional arc follows a young woman learning that dreams cost something, with humour that never fully lets go of the hope underneath. Intensity is low: no graphic violence, a few mild sexual references and some casual language, with the tension coming from professional setbacks and romantic missteps rather than danger. It is for viewers who enjoy character-driven comedy-drama about art, romance and the industry that sells them.
