The story
Dr Samir is an absolute charmer when it comes to women, but he poses as a married man to keep them at bay. Love becomes a three-ring-circus for him after he ends up tangled in his web of lies with his girlfriend Sonia and pretend wife Naina.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated studio colour with the warm glow of Mumbai interiors: sunlit living rooms, bold costume palettes of reds, yellows and jewel tones, and wide, theatrical frames that stage slapstick and song sequences like a stage farce. The camera moves briskly and often playfully, cutting between mistaken-identity set-ups, and the score is bouncy filmi pop with big percussive dance numbers and bright horns. Vibe: breezy, cheerful, mildly chaotic, a light sugary comedy with romance at its heart. The tone stays warm and low-stakes, with a playboy hero slowly tripping over his own deceptions and learning some humility along the way. Expect plenty of melodramatic overacting, pratfalls and mugging, and romantic sweetness rather than real tension. Violence is absent; the only sting is verbal teasing and comic exasperation. Suited to a lazy weekend, a comfort rewatch, or a feel-good night in, for people who want a colourful, musical romantic comedy that is gentle, silly and easy to enjoy.
