The story
Officer Shivani Shivaji Roy is stationed at Kota where she goes against a ferocious serial killer who rapes and murders women.
What it’s like
Hot, dusty daylight over crowded Indian streets, dim tube-lit police stations, and sweaty close-ups give this crime thriller a grimy, lived-in look, with a palette of ochre, grey and bruised blue. The camera stays close and urgent, moving with its heroine through alleys and interrogation rooms, and the score pulses with percussive tension that drops out abruptly into unsettling quiet. The vibe is hard-edged and relentless, a late-night, eyes-on-the-screen watch rather than background viewing. Its arc follows a determined female officer working a manhunt, with the emotional weight on her resolve and anger. The intensity is high: sexual assault and murder are central and shown with real brutality, the menace is constant, and there is a fair amount of fistfights and chases. It is not gentle, and the dread lands hard. Made for viewers who want a tough, female-led police procedural and can take sustained violence against women as its subject.
