The final wave will bring four new playable characters - Pauline, Peachette, Diddy Kong & Funky Kong. Acorn Cup courses: - Rome Avanti (Tour) - DK Mountain (GCN) - Daisy Circuit (Wii) -Piranha Plant Cove Spiny Cup courses: - Madrid Drive (Tour) - Rosalina's Ice World (3DS) - Bowser's Castle 3 (SNES) - Rainbow Road (Wii)

What it’s like

Bright, glossy, saturated colour throughout, with the crisp cartoon polish of Nintendo's HD style: sun-warmed Mediterranean streets and tiled plazas, icy blues and white snowfields, lava-orange castle halls, and a rainbow sweep of road over the clouds. The four characters bring a little extra jump-and-cheer energy to the lineup. Music is bouncy and looping, with brass stabs and chiming synth, and the sound of item boxes and drift boosts keeps the track busy. The vibe is cheerful, quick and mildly chaotic: a sunny afternoon with friends, a split-screen session on the sofa, or a short, dependable run on the go. Pacing is fast, with laps measured in seconds and races decided by a single lucky shell. Emotionally it stays light and playful, with rivalries that flare and disappear in a moment and no lasting sting. There is no real violence or gore; the mayhem is cartoonish, with characters spinning out, bouncing off walls and tumbling into harmless water or lava. It suits fans who love returning to classic courses in a new look, families and mixed-age groups, and anyone wanting bright, uncomplicated competition with a nostalgic streak.
