The story
SRB2Kart is a classic styled kart racer, complete with beautiful courses, and wacky items. Of course, because it’s SRB2Kart, it has a Sonic twist that really shows the classic charm that a lot of us know and love from the good old days. We have 100 jam-packed maps for you to bump, explode, and sparkle your way through, from luscious beaches, to Eggman’s dance floor, to England on a good day. All lovingly crafted by many different people. You’ll notice almost every aspect of the game has an immense love and inspiration from the classic sonic games. From the items such as Ballhog, which literally throws bouncey explodey balls at people, to the maps which are bursting with that Sonic feel. Of course, you'll only start off with a few cups available, but you can unlock more by playing offline/online matches. Alternatively, you can immediately jump into challenging yourself and race us personally in Staff Attack mode! Don't worry, we'll go easy on you.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated, and cheerfully busy: sunlit beaches, lush green hills, and a glossy dance-floor arena lit in pinks and blues, all rendered in the sprite-and-polygon blend of late-nineties Sonic games, with chunky outlines and a sheen of toy-box colour. The camera trails behind tiny karts through a constant spray of sparkles, bouncing balls and small explosions, while the soundtrack leans on bouncy chiptune-flavoured tracks and the springy sound effects of ring pickups and item boxes. The pace is fast and scrappy, with rounds that feel like brief bursts of chaos and quick recoveries, the mood playful and nostalgic rather than tense. Violence is purely cartoonish: karts bump, spin out and blow up without blood or gore, and fear never really enters the picture. It suits a Saturday-morning session, an evening of couch multiplayer with friends, or a nostalgic afternoon for anyone who grew up on the originals. It is made for fans who want warm, silly, colourful racing with a familiar Sonic twist and plenty of room to tinker.
