The story

A former Marine out to punish the criminals responsible for his family's murder finds himself ensnared in a military conspiracy.

What it’s like

Grimy, rain-slick New York rendered in cold blues, sodium-orange streetlight and the hard white glare of fluorescent corridors, with a camera that stays close to its characters in handheld, unshowy takes and lets quiet hallway and apartment scenes run long before the next burst of action. Sound leans on distant sirens, muffled traffic and a low, brooding score that swells in the fight sequences, where the choreography is brutal, messy and physical rather than balletic. The mood is bleak and sombre, a slow-burning grief that keeps flaring into violence, with a persistent sense of moral unease about who gets to decide what justice looks like. Violence is frequent and graphic: shootings, close-quarters beatings, blood and bodies, plus some torture and a steady undercurrent of cruelty, though sexual content is minimal. It suits a late-night binge where you want something heavy and dark, not something light. It's for viewers who like gritty crime drama, damaged antiheroes and conspiracy thrillers, and can handle sustained brutality.
