The story

When a sinister conspiracy targets Commander Shepard, you and your team must uncover the truth, through battles and intrigue that range from the glamour of the Citadel's Wards to the top-secret Council Archives. Uncover the truth and fight alongside your squad – as well as the cast from the original Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, including Urdnot Wrex!

What it’s like

Sleek, polished sci-fi in cool blue-white light, with the gleaming marble-like towers of the Citadel's Presidium giving way to dim, cramped corridors and the hush of restricted archive rooms. Combat is fast and stylised, with muzzle flashes and biotic glows against clean metal, and the score swells with orchestral strings and synth pulses during firefights before dropping back to quiet ambient tones during the long stretches of walking, talking and poking around. The vibe is tense but polished, a conspiracy thriller with a comfortable, familiar rhythm: short bursts of action separated by conversations and investigation. Violence is frequent but largely bloodless and stylised, with no gore emphasis, and the dread comes from paranoia and political intrigue rather than horror. The emotional register centres on loyalty and trust, as Shepard's allies are tested and the squad reconnects with old companions. It suits a late evening play session, a focused couple of hours, or anyone who enjoys a tactical shooter with strong character banter and a sense of being in a lived-in world. It is for players who want a moderately intense, story-driven sci-fi experience with a warm, reunion-style emotional core.
