The story

Mirror's Edge is a side-scrolling platform game developed by IronMonkey Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for the iPod on September 2, 2009, for iPad and iPhone on April 1, 2010, and later for Windows Phone on July 13, 2012. The game is a prequel to the original Mirror's Edge, setting the scene about Runners and the city's shady corporations.

What it’s like

Clean white rooftops, glass towers and bright sky give this a sterile, sun-washed city, with splashes of primary red marking the routes you're meant to follow. The 2.5D side-on view keeps the camera steady as the runner sprints, vaults and slides across ledges, with polygonal figures and simple geometric backdrops that stay crisp rather than gritty. Pacing is fast and rhythmic, with quieter stretches for finding the next jump and occasional vent crawls that feel tight and claustrophobic. The mood is cool, dystopian and a little lonely, the faint unease of a city where surveillance is always close, though the tone stays brisk and playful rather than bleak. Intensity is low: pursuit by armed guards and frequent falls create tension, but there is little blood or gore and the violence stays at a distance. Touch controls on mobile make it a natural pick for short bursts on a commute or a lunch break. It suits players who enjoy movement-focused platforming, precise timing and a stylish, minimalist city to run through.
