The story
When five young outsiders on Community Service get caught in a strange storm, they discover that they have developed superpowers.
What it’s like
Gritty, overcast British estates and grey council-block stairwells, shot handheld with a loose, jittery energy that stays close to the characters' faces, while the palette runs to bruised greys, sodium-orange streetlight and the washed-out pastels of cheap suburban interiors. Electronic-leaning indie tracks and needle-drop pop punch up the big moments, and the superpower effects are deliberately low-budget and cheeky rather than sleek. The vibe is scruffy, irreverent and warm underneath: a bit of sweary teen chaos, a bit of wistful loneliness, best for a wet weeknight or a binge with friends. Pacing is brisk, episodes are short and jokey, and the emotional arcs follow misfits who slowly find a tentative sense of belonging through bickering and shared secrets. Intensity is moderate: frequent swearing, crude sex talk and drug references, some scuffles and blood, with occasional sharper peril, but no sustained gore. It suits viewers who want rough-edged, character-driven comedy-drama with a superhero twist and don't mind a lot of profanity.
