The story

Geronimo's adventurous sister Thea narrates this fabulous adventure that's packed with action, mystery, and friendship! In this exciting adventure, the Thea Sisters are off to Paris to visit Colette's fashion-designer friend Julie. But when Julie's designs are suddenly stolen, the girls must search the city of Paris to catch the thief and save the fashion show. Readers will love following the clues to help the Thea Sisters solve the mystery!

What it’s like

Bright, light-hearted middle-grade fun with a brisk, chatty narrator who keeps up a steady run of clues, detours and small crises. The mood is cheerful and busy rather than atmospheric: picture a sunny Paris week of boutiques, a fashion-show backstage rush, and a team of young friends racing across the city. Sentences are short and energetic, and the chapters move quickly from one lead to the next, so it suits an afternoon read or a bedtime chapter for a child who likes puzzles. Intensity is very low: the danger is mild, the stakes are a stolen collection and a looming runway show, and there is no real violence, gore or fear beyond a brief spooky moment of suspense. Friendship, teamwork and loyalty run through the story, and the central relationships are warm and unambiguous. It is aimed at young readers, roughly eight to twelve, who enjoy whodunit clue-hunting, fashion-world settings, and mouse-character adventures, and at adults looking for a gentle, uncomplicated read to share with them.
